Not a Food Blog (Alternate title: Finding a Replacement)

So this is not a blog about food but I did make a delicious meal this evening. I boiled and mashed yams then added chopped red onion, margarine and corn. It was amazing!

Anyways, what I actually am blogging about is something I meant to write about last week but I have children and a life so I did not get around to it.

Finding A Replacement

My coffee maker died. Suddenly and unexpectedly. One morning I went for my coffee, stuck a K-cup in my Keurig brewer, pressed the 10 oz button. Nothing. Bleary-eyed, after a night up with my baby, I see that the brewer isn't on. Press power. Nothing. Check that it's plugged in. Yep. Press power again. You guessed it, nothing. I call my husband over, he plugs it into a different outlet. Still nothing. So across the street he goes. Gas station coffee. Not a great cup of coffee but I got my caffeine. Day 2 of no coffee maker: instant coffee. Why? My husband went to work and my eldest daughter was still sleeping. (Sidenote: I am slightly addicted to coffee. I get a headache if I don't have caffiene.)
We are now on week 2 of being brewer-less (due to the incredible ability my husband and I both have to procrastinate.) On Friday, I sent an email to Keurig. Monday they replied, saying we should call them. Tuesday my husband makes the call. The call was answered promptly and 5 minutes later they asked for our address so they could send us a new brewer (no charge!) Thank-you Keurig!
So, no more instant and no more gas station coffees for me. I have my old drip maker back (bought coffee for it finally yesterday) until my Keurig brewer gets here. Really, once you've switched to K-cups the alternatives just don't measure up! Well, maybe if I lived in a town with a Blenz or a Starbucks...

By the way, love the blog title and love the background :)
I'm making quite the dinner too - orange-maple chicken (recipe on my blog), potatos, and mixed veggies :)
